If your child is heading into P5 or P6 Chinese, you already know the hard part isn't reading a textbook — it's getting a little practice in, every day, without a fight. That's why we built 方方华文 (P6Chinese): a calm iPad companion, not another drill book.
📌 In one line. An iPad app from PSLE Alex for Singapore P5–P6 Chinese — Foundation (基础华文) and Standard (华文) — that turns five to ten minutes a day into steady progress, with 方方 the companion. Lesson 1 is free.
Practice, not drilling
方方华文 is deliberately gentle. There's no leaderboard, no red-ink scolding, no pressure to "keep the streak." 方方 just keeps your child company: 今天来过了 ✓, 慢慢练. Wrong answers aren't failures — they go into a 错题本 that quietly brings them back later, spaced out, until they stick.
How your child practises
Every character moves through four stages:
- 认 (recognise) — see a character, hear it, know it.
- 读 (read) — pinyin and short-passage understanding.
- 写 (write) — stroke-order handwriting on Apple Pencil.
- 用 (use) — match phrases and rebuild sentences.
Plus the two components families find hardest to practise at home:
- 听力理解 (listening) — understanding spoken Chinese.
- 口试 (oral) — guided speaking scenarios: say what you feel, judge right from wrong, give a reason.
Why listening and speaking matter
They carry real weight in the PSLE — and for Foundation Chinese, oral and listening together are 85% of the grade. They're also the hardest to rehearse at a dining table, which is exactly where a patient app companion earns its keep. (More on how the two streams are graded: Foundation vs Standard Chinese.)
Free to start
Lesson 1 is free, forever — the whole flow, no account, no card. From Lesson 2 it's a subscription, and one subscription covers the family across your devices.
